Qualification Purpose:

The purpose of the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Work is to equip learners with the skills and competence in the delivery of high-quality health and social care services. The learner will gain an understanding of how to provide daily, holistic, therapeutic, and clinical care under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered healthcare professional. Learners will choose one of the following pathways: • Adult nursing support. • Maternity support. • Theatre support. • Mental health support. • Children and young people support. • Allied health professional therapy support.

Assessment Method:

This unit supports learners in developing their personal and professional practice through reflective thinking and targeted development planning. It encourages learners to take ownership of their performance by evaluating feedback, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and agreeing to personal development plans that align with professional standards. It also focuses on the importance of continuing professional development (CPD) in improving quality of care, and how reflective practice leads to better outcomes for individuals supported in the care setting.

Progression Routes

Successful learners can progress to specialist health qualifications, an apprenticeship or to health related undergraduate programmes.
